We frequently take our vacations in the form of a motorcycle trip. This year we decided to take "to the air". We are very fortunate that we booked our trip early in order to lock in lower airfares.
On May 23rd off to California. Our take-off is delayed 2 hours due to storms in the area the night before. The flight crew hadn't had any down-time and they aren't able to fly without a 6 hour break, so we wait. Since our flight was delayed, we had to change our connecting flight in Denver. Long story short, we lost our rental car. Tracy wanted to rent a "Charger" to drive up the coast. Well, when we finally got to the rental car place, they gave away the Charger. We got a Dodge Magnum instead. (similar to the Charger, but a sport wagon). So off we went. We check into the hotel and go to visit Don & Inez Creps. Lisa and Bev (their daughters) are there as well.
The week is full of sightseeing and fellowship with our old friends. We go back to San Francisco to Pier 39 and drive up Highway 1 along the coast. Our main goal was to see the Redwoods. I have only seen them in pictures. Tracy has spoken many times of the beauty in northern California. So off we go to "Avenue of the Giants". Wow! The view is breathtaking. We drive THROUGH a tree. This is awesome...... We drive up Mt Shasta, winding around and around. We stop at 6900 ft. There is still snow on the mountain, therefore we can't go any higher. We get out of our car and take in the crisp mountain air.
We drive to Lodi to visit some other friends.
We go see Beverly Creps' horse. Inez and the girls take us past the house that Tracy and his parents lived in when he was a kid. We reminisce about the old days. We eat way too much, we catch up and laugh a lot. The Creps' are a wonderful family.
The week goes very fast.......................... As our vacation comes to an end, we reflect on the many terrific conversations with our friends and the splendor of the beauty in northern California. We have now written another chapter in our journey to see the wonders of God.
P.S. After putting 1500 miles on the rental car, we liked the Magnum so much that we came home and bought one. Pretty expensive vacation, huh?
